About PlebChat

PlebChat is a nostr-ecosystem app: a web application with no accounts, no platform cloud, and no backend of ours. It is a static site — everything it does happens in your browser.

What that means in practice

• Your identity is a keypair. There is nothing to sign up for. Generate a nostr key in one click or bring the one you already use — it works across every nostr app, not just this one.
• Your data lives with you. Books, articles, notes, and documents are stored in this browser and, when you choose to sync, published encrypted-to-you through nostr relays you configure. We cannot read them; there is no server of ours to trust or to fail.
• Your AI is your own. The assistant and research agent run entirely in your browser against any endpoint you configure — a local model via LM Studio or Ollama, OpenRouter, Anthropic, or your own gateway. Your prompts go to the provider you picked, never through us.
• Payments are bitcoin. The built-in AI service is pay-as-you-go with Lightning and Cashu ecash — bring sats, not API keys. No cards, no billing accounts.

Agent — a private AI chat that answers to you

Multi-turn conversations with an assistant that can research the web and nostr when you ask it to — and only then. Point it at any model endpoint (your model, your key: LM Studio or Ollama on localhost, OpenRouter, Anthropic, your own gateway — config and API keys stay in this browser) or use the built-in credits service. Threads are private by default, stored on this device with no server-side transcript, because there is no server. When it researches, answers come cited and inspectable — every source recorded from the agent's actual tool calls — and render full markdown. Try it now — no key needed.

Library — your files and books, on your keys

One surface: a sidebar of what you have, tabs for whatever you open — a book, a PDF, a file, an article, a debate — and the agent beside them, able to read a book you hand it and write into folders you grant. Workspaces keep separate lines of work apart. Everything you read in one place: books, saved articles, and RSS feeds. A real EPUB reader with pagination, themes, and adjustable typography; highlights and notes anchored precisely in the text; encrypted sync of progress and annotations as NIP-44 nostr events (relays only ever see ciphertext) with book files backed up to Blossom. Share on your terms — highlights publish as standard NIP-84 events other clients understand — and follow news and RSS without an algorithm: fetched on your command, never in the background.

Debate — stress-test what you believe

Structured Socratic seminars: state a thesis, support or challenge any claim, define the terms carrying the argument, and record concessions. An agent interlocutor can probe, refute, or steelman the case; the Map view reveals its shape; public links invite counter-arguments from other keypairs. Learn about Debate.

Open by design
